Philly Food
Postage Stamps

illustration, print design

Art Direction: Monica Brodovsky

Introduction:

In the past few years, several local businesses suffered significant economic losses as consequence of the recent pandemic's rigid restrictions on social gatherings. With this in mind, I was inspired to use imagery of iconic Philly foods to create a postage stamp series to promote the ongoing support of locally owned businesses during this time of economic uncertainty.

Mission & Purpose:

My collection of postage stamps highlights the best of Philly foods with a fun and charming twist. I chose to personify each food by using a combination of halftones and “bad print” effects to compliment the stamps’ retro, “rubber hose” look. From a Rocky-inspired cheesesteak to TastyKake Phillies fans, this set of stamps is guaranteed to satisfy any Philadelphian foodie! My goal with this project was to produce visuals that would encourage people to visit Philadelphia and support locally owned businesses, specifically restaurants, in light of the recent pandemic.
